Andrew Comrie-Picard gave us one of the most memorable moments in recent X Games history last year (video after the jump). And after a solid 2009 Rally America season, where ACP currently sits third in the overall points standings, the Mitsubishi driver was assured another chance to wow the crowd at the Home Depot Center this year.
After finishing fifth at this year’s event, ACP was happy with his result, especially considering that his ride was the only car in the top five without factory support.
“I got the biggest air of the day over the jump during practice and nosed it in,” said Comrie-Picard. “The front of the car was pretty battered by the time I lined up against Travis, and one of the boost hoses was leaking. But the crew really deserves the credit for their incredible job in repairing the car to get it back to the starting line for each round through the quarterfinals. And of course Travis drove a great race.
“There’s no shame in losing to the Ford Fiestas, really,” he added, “the cars are beautifully engineered, and they were certainly well-driven here. I hope we see more of them competing in America.”
After Tanner’s interview yesterday, it seems like there are a few people out there that are really trying to make that happen. I know that having the Fords on the stages would be a wonderful addition to the sport.
