Hirvonen named Rally Australia winner after Citroen penalties – Seb Loeb pretty much dominated Rally Australia, but failing post-rally scrutineering meant that all three Citroen drivers were given a one minute penalty (and handing the victory to championship leader Mikko Hirvonen). With protests, rock throwing and technical infractions, the teams have to be glad the rally is over.

Sébastien Loeb:

“I am obviously disappointed, but you’ve got to accept it when the regulations are applied. Instead of being just one point behind Mikko Hirvonen, I now have a five-point deficit to make up. That clearly complicates matters regarding our bid to win a sixth title, but this won’t have any effect on our determination to win in Spain…”
