Loeb the leader after thrilling opening day in Great Britain – A victory in Great Britain would secure Sebastien Loeb’s sixth consecutive FIA World Rally Championship driver’s title. Mikko Hirvonen, Loeb’s main rival, sits just one point ahead of the Frenchman as the final round of the 2009 season moves into its second day. Hirvonen simply needs to finish ahead of Loeb to win his first title. Click here for today’s stage times.

Overall classification day 1 Rally GB – Petter Solberg isn’t in the fight for the rally victory (he’s 40 seconds off Loeb’s leading pace), but the Norwegian sits third as the rally moves into the second leg. Solberg is poised to strike should either title contender falter, which is possible since both will be pushing hard for the remainder of the weekend.

Mosley prepares to bow out as FIA President – Good riddance. I’m sad that Ari Vatanen lost the election to Jean Todt, but a part of me is thrilled to see Max Mosley finally leave office.

Hamilton: Button will be on it in Abu Dhabi – Of course Jensen Button wants to end the 2009 Formula One season with a victory. The Brit locked up the title at the previous race, the Brazilian Grand Prix. Hamilton, also from Great Britain, is pleased to see the title return to his homeland.
